The Scepter of Zavandor is a board game about magic and power. The players represent young magicians who have gained possession of old magic knowledge. With this knowledge, they attempt to achieve the position of archmage, symbolized by the Scepter of Zavandor.
In order to achieve their goal, the players must first develop magic energy sources. These are above all enchanted jewels. There are five kinds of jewels, but in the beginning the players only can enchant simple opals and sapphires. The ability to enchant more powerful jewels must first be learned (rubies) or be acquired through artifacts (emeralds, diamonds).
