This is the November 2007 relaunch by Mayfair Games.
Dark clouds are gathering over the peaceful island of Catan. Wild barbarians, attracted by the wealth of Catan, sailed to attack the country. Fortunately, warning has given Catan time to meet the danger. This revised edition also includes a game tray designed to hold the 5-6 player extension components. Requires a copy of the Settlers of Catan core game to play.
Elements of the game that haven’t changed include the wood roads, cities, settlements and ships, which remain the same as the current Mayfair edition. The tile size remains the same as well, so while future Catan releases will use new art to match this relaunched line, the components will work with earlier editions of the game. Catan Cities & Knights also brings back the flipbook format.
